Gosh ... I think I accidentally read this ages ago (or at least the first one). I distinctly remember reading a James Patterson book with kids with wings. It HAD to have been this one. I didn't really like it.

Sandy - You are so right; there is a ton of running around and beating up bad guys and very little actual progression.

Yeah, I seriously doubt RPattz and Stewart are going to be involved in a film adaptation- but Hardwicke is wonderful at capturing teenagers that the film adaptation ought to be good.

It can be so very hard to execute series properly, and I'm a bit sad to see that this one doesn't pull it off all the way.

(Also, is there a reason her name is Maximum Ride? Because that sounds a wee bit silly to me.)

Well, at the risk of sounding like a big old poop, we just weren't all that crazy about this one. We listened to the first on audio, and the kids and I had no urge to listen to more. We loved the idea of the characters, but the plot was just a bunch of running around, fighting the bad guys. And please, are you sick of the Stewart thing? If I hear her as a potential cast for one more movie, I'm going to barf. She's not that good.

I've listened to a few of these books on audio and enjoyed them. I'm not up on child actors either, but I don't think Stewart and Pattinson should be in this movie at all...and if its slated for 2013...they will be far too old for it.
