I'm so addicted to challenges, and I don't even care. I know I most likely won't complete them all, but I love the idea of them, and the way it focuses my reading in ways that I wouldn't just pick up on my own. I don't think I'll ever quit them - they're too much fun!

I had a similar problem on paperbackswap when I would join a million swap games and then have sooo many books to read and would never read any I chose to. So with challenges I've just tried to be picky and not stress it when I don't make it. I've joined a few but have not really made any progress toward them. Not even the one I'm hosting, lol!

I love the way you set this up!

I signed up for way too many challenges last year, and while I still completed them, this year I'm being more careful which ones to sign up for. I am only joining ones which mean something to me - ones like the GLBT and the Unbound challenge - and ones that won't be difficult for me to complete - like the YA challenge. I'm NOT joining challenges that take me out of my comfort zone this year. If I want to read something out of my comfort zone - which I do sometimes - I will grab that onmy own instead of having a challenge force me into it. I want to be low stress this year. I plan to join Orbis as well if that comes up, but I don't know how many others, if any, I'll join.

I find that I am planning on joining a lot of challenges myself in 2010 and I'm hosting a Christmas Reading Challenge that goes until the end of this year AND The Michener Challenge, which officially starts January 1st. However, I'm not worried for three reasons. One-There is a lot of crossover between the challenges. Two-I'm kind of a procrastinator...even when it comes to my favorite past-time so challenges will help me stay motivated. And three-My home library contains 1500+ books and these challenges are going to help me start whittling away at a largely unread TBR ICEBERG!

So, know that you're not alone in the overzealous joining of challenges! I prefer to look at it as a "challenge" (no pun intended), not a hindrance!
